Electric atmosphere as PTD win Business House domino KO title
The National Housing Trust Sport Club was packed to capacity on Friday night as the National Association of Domino Bodies’ (NABD) Business House League Knockout delivered a grand finale that organisers say exceeded expectations.
In front of a standing-room-only crowd, the Post and Telecommunication Department (PTD) defeated Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) to take the title 67-58 in what was described as one of the most entertaining finals in recent memory.
NADB President Humbert Davis said the turnout and energy showed just how much the competition means to players and fans.
“This was beyond what we expected,” Davis told the Jamaica Observer.
“The NHT Sport Club was jam-packed, the atmosphere was electric, and the quality of domino on display was top-class. This is what Business House domino is all about — pride, rivalry, and community,” Davis added.
He credited the teams and sponsors for lifting the tournament to a new level.
“We want to thank NHT for hosting us and all the companies that entered. When you see PTD and PAJ battling like that in a final, with supporters turning out in full force, it tells you the league is growing. We exceeded expectations on every front — organisation, participation, and excitement,” Davis said.
The focus now shifts back to the League tournament, which resumes today at the semi-final stage.
The first semi-final will see the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information take on PAJ, while NHT faces PTD in a rematch of Friday’s finalists.
Both games will be played at the Bank of Jamaica starting at 6:30 pm.
“We’re rolling straight into the semis and the momentum is still high. Fans should come out early. We expect another full house at BOJ. This is Business House domino at its best,” Davis stated.
