KINGSTON, Jamaica — International dancehall artiste Patra is in high spirits about her partnership with American DJ, producer, and CEO of JHouse Entertainment, Freddy Browne.

The two recently signed an agreement that sees the artiste’s +Plus Entertainment Inc distributed globally through JHOUSE Entertainment/ The Orchard/ Sony Music. However, for Patra, the collaboration means so much more.

“This partnership is so unique because it has given me a lot of independence. It’s like a dream, I tell you. I have to big up Freddy for this one because I’ve had many opportunities coming to me, on my table. This is the best deal I could have ever had and this is the deal I want to have as an artiste because it has helped me to not only be independent, but to help others,” she told the Observer online.

Patra is featured on Browne’s JHouse Vol 1 album with a track titled Me So Sexy.

Reflecting on her musical legacy, Patra further shared some of her fondest memories and releases, and is humbled by the global impact that they have had.

“I have to give Tony Kelly his credit because he’s the one who had started it off in the beginning and everything went from there,” she said in reference to her release titled Worker Man. “What I love about that track  is that it shows my skills in terms of singing and deejaying. At the time, being in America and dominating the space in reggae and dancehall gave me an opportunity to be more confident. I walk out confidently in anything I’m doing; especially with the banner of Jamaica behind my head all the time,” she added.

“As for Romantic Call, to this day it has been celebrated throughout this world. I have to give big respect to Yo-Yo who came in and put her thing [to it]. Tupac came out and showed up in the video and the rest is history! Romantic Call will always be that song,” Patra added.

Looking ahead, Patra is confident that she will continue to reap success. The entertainer shared that she is grounded in faith and hard work.

“I took a chance from the country saying that I wanted to be a superstar, and in no time that took place. I’ve gone through a lot, but, I’ve also appreciated what people have done for me. I don’t hold on to anything that’s miserable, so, now all those doors that have been opened for me I’m getting ready to use them to the best of my ability. What I do is continue to pray and continue to believe in myself. God already knows what to do for me when I go to Him in prayer,” she said.
