Dear Editor,

I am writing as a concerned resident of Deanery Road to bring public attention to a serious fire hazard that has been allowed to develop in our community.

A large accumulation of timber, construction debris, and other combustible materials has been left on a residential property for an extended period. This growing pile of flammable material poses a significant danger to nearby homes, residents, and passing pedestrians. With the dry weather and the possibility of an accidental fire, the consequences could be devastating.

What makes this situation even more frustrating is that several appeals have already been made to the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC). Unfortunately, despite repeated reports, all we have received are promises that the matter would be addressed. To date, no meaningful action has been taken, and the hazard continues to worsen.

Residents should not have to live with the constant fear that a preventable fire could destroy homes, endanger lives, or overwhelm emergency services. We deserve to feel safe in our own community.

I am, therefore, writing to the Jamaica Observer in the hope that bringing public awareness to this issue will encourage the relevant authorities to act with the urgency the situation requires. It should not take a tragedy before preventative measures are implemented.

I respectfully ask that the KSAMC and any other relevant agencies investigate this matter immediately and ensure the accumulated debris is removed before it becomes the source of a catastrophic fire.

Thank you for giving attention to this pressing community concern. I sincerely hope that through your publication the appropriate authorities will finally take decisive action.
