THREE-YEAR-OLD chestnut filly Following Wave learned from her debut run and made no mistakes the second time out on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

The Spencer Chung-trained Following Wave had run second to My Lady Gold on June 6 by a length and three quarters, but Chung knew there was more in there.

In Division 2 of the $1.5-million Maiden Condition for fillies over 5 furlongs (1,000m), Tevin Foster gave her every chance to show it and she did, as from the starting gates opened it was smooth sailing.

Following Wave, bred by Bern Identity out of Saint Cecelia, surged up to surround rivals going into the half-mile (800m) turn, and once she hit front she just kept rolling.

Captain’s Bad Gal (Jaheim Anderson), Awingandaprayer (Shane Richardson), and For My Love (Eric Haughton) tried to match her but, approaching the distance, they were left flat-footed and never really recovered from the blistering speed of Following Wave.

Following Wave opened up with every stride in deep stretch and just cruised home easily. The final time was 1:00.2 with splits of 24.1 x 48.0. For My Love finished second while Captain’s Bad Gal placed third.
