NEW York-based independent reggae label VP Records earns its first entry on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart in five years, thanks to Buju Banton’s Too Too Bad, which enters at #8 on this week’s chart.

Released on July 17 via Buju Banton’s Gargamel Music and VP Records, the album is the iconic artiste’s first presence on the Billboard chart in six years. His 2020 album Upside Down topped out at #2 in July 2020.

The last time that an album released via VP Records entered the chart was in 2021, when 10 by queen of the dancehall Spice rose to #6.

Too Too Bad, which features collaborations with Jaz Elise, Ari Lennox, Gramps Morgan, and DJ Khaled, is Buju Banton’s 13th charting album on the Billboard chart.

His sole chart-topper Inna Heights started an eight-week run at the top in December 1997. Unchained Spirit, Til Shiloh, Rasta Got Soul, and Before The Dawn all peaked at #2.

Still on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Legend by Bob Marley and the Wailers ranks at #1 for 341 non-consecutive weeks, while Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy remains at #2.

The British Phonographic Industry (BPI)-certified platinum Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul re-enters at #3, while World on Fire by Stick Figure, Greatest Hits by UB40, and Dutty Rock by Sean Paul rank at #4, #5 and #6, respectively.

Stick Figure’s Wisdom is firm at #7, while Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers and Set in Stone by Stick Figure are #9 and #10.

The Afrobeats/house/EDM interpretation of Sister Nancy’s 1982 hit Bam Bam (renamed Jamaican Bam Bam) credited to producers HUGEL and SOLTO, jumps from #53 to #42 on the Billboard Global 200 chart, while stepping up from #28 to #20 on Global Excluding US.

Meanwhile, over on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart, the song rises to a new peak, bolting from #17 to land at #11 in its 25th week on the chart.

Over on Billboard’s Warm Global Dance Radio chart, Jamaican Bam Bam moves from #15 to #11, and inches up from #7 to #6 on the France Hot 100 chart. The song glides from #77 to #67 on the UK Singles chart.

Sean Paul doubles up on both Global 200 with (When You Gonna) Give it Up to Me featuring Keyshia Cole slipping from #110 to #111 in its 16th week. Cheap Thrills with Sia backtracks from #138 to #168.

On Global Excluding US, the Keyshia Cole collaboration dips from #68 to #71, and Cheap Thrills slides down from #90 to #119.

Moving now Billboard’s Latin charts, PONGO by Rvssian featuring Rauw Alejandro and Wizkid inches up from #46 to #43 on Latin Airplay, but on Hot Latin Songs it slips from #38 to #43.

Hot Latin Rhythm Songs sees PONGO backtracking from #14 to #17, while dipping from #11 to #12 on Latin Rhythm Airplay.

Now onto the Voice of the Caribbean’s Florida Reggae and Dancehall Top 20 Radio Singles chart, Ting Loud by Protoje and Masicka takes over the #1 spot with Slip N Slide by Masicka falling to #2. Hills of St Ann by Stephen Marley remains at #3 and Dancehall Ting by Vybz Kartel rises from #7 to #4.

Butterflies by Buju Banton holds steady at #5 and Portland-based singer Hope Vocals steps up from #9 to #6 with the Hilly Gully rhythm hit Kumina Medley (Walk in Deh).

Reggae Music Nice by Legato takes over the #1 spot on the Reggae North Canadian Top 20 Reggae and Dancehall chart. Rise Up by Belinda Brady moves up to #2, with last week’s chart-topper Student of a Broken Heart by Exco Levi falling to #3.

Ten Foot Wall by Tasha T holds firm at #4 and Blaze it by I-Noah inches its way to #5.

Wet Sugar by Richie Stephens spends a third week at #1 on the New York Reggae chart, while Di Real Rock by Macka B storms its way from #10 to #5.

Stress Free by Norman Espeut steps up from #11 to #9, and My Darling by Rayven Amani and Deliver Me by Derrick Scott debut at #29 and #30, respectively.

Buju Banton’s Butterflies logs a 7th week at #1 on the South Florida Reggae chart, with Wet Sugar by Richie Stephens moving from #4 to #2.

Summertime by The Meditations roars in at #23, and Oh Jamaica by Xaymacans for Jamaica enters at #25.
