KINGSTON, Jamaica — Head of Strategic Operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Warren Clarke, has called on members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to give their maximum effort during the final five months of 2026, describing the remainder of the year as “a sprint” that will require every division to perform at its best.

Addressing officers at an Area 2 Town Hall Meeting, the deputy commissioner said the force had made significant gains in reducing violent crime but warned that achieving its year-end targets would depend on sustained operational intensity across all policing areas.

“As much as we did well last year, then we have this year in front of us, and in another couple of days we’ll have only five months to go in the year. Five months of a lot to do,” DCP Clarke said.

He urged officers to prepare for an intensive operational push through to the end of December.

“I’m happy that some of us have already taken a vacation because the next five months is a sprint to the 31st of December, and it will require all hands on deck. Absolutely, all hands on deck, because the year has not been going too well in all places, and so less murders anywhere will do,” he said.

DCP Clarke reminded members that the JCF’s mission extends beyond achieving favourable crime statistics, noting that reducing murders remains critical to protecting Jamaica’s young people and creating the conditions for national development.

He also pointed to the progress already made in driving down violent crime, saying the force had reversed Jamaica’s long-standing trend of high murder rates but emphasising that there was still more work to be done.

“Our work has only started. There is a lot more to be done,” he said.

DCP Clarke encouraged members to remain focused and committed, stressing that a strong finish across every command will be essential if the constabulary is to achieve its strategic objectives and further improve public safety before the close of the year.
