Mount Pleasant FA secured a place in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup after beating Suriname’s SV Robinhood 3-1 in the semi-finals of the CFU Club Shield at Larry Gomes Stadium in Trinidad on Friday.

Goals from Trayvone Reid, Jahshaun Anglin, and Demario Phillips sent Mount Pleasant into Sunday’s final and ensured Jamaica will have three teams in this year’s Caribbean Cup. Jamaica Premier League champions Portmore United and Cavalier have already qualified for the competition which starts next week.

Mount Pleasant will face Dominican Republic club Delfines del Este in Sunday’s final after they beat Metropolitan of Puerto Rico 10-9 on sudden-death penalties following a 0-0 draw.

Mount Pleasant took the lead in the 31st minute after Daniel Green was brought down by Ackenie Muesa in the penalty area. Reid converted from the spot to hand Robinhood their first goal conceded of the tournament.

Anglin doubled the advantage in the 57th minute, sweeping home from close range, before Phillips made it 3-0 in the 82nd minute with a strike from outside the penalty area that beat goalkeeper Jonathan Fonkel at his near post.

Robinhood pulled one back in the 90th minute when substitute Naiem Helstone fired past Shaquan Davis from the left side of the penalty area.

After receiving a first-round bye following the withdrawal of Antigua’s All Saints United, Mount Pleasant advanced to the semi-finals with a 1-0 win over Barbados champions Weymouth Wales on Tuesday.
