KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police are pursuing strong leads in the fatal shooting of actor and recording artiste Brian-Todd Anthony Boucher, popularly known as Ras Ajai, as investigators probe whether the attack was connected to an ongoing gang feud involving one of his associates.

Observer Online understands that investigators are examining reports that a gang conflict in Waterford, Portmore in St Catherine, involving at least one associate of Boucher may have led to his killing.

Boucher was shot and killed by gunmen in the Waterford area of Portmore on Sunday night.

Another man was also shot and injured during the attack and remains in hospital receiving treatment.

The deceased actor is not believed to have been personally involved in violent crime. However, detectives are reportedly investigating information that a feud in Waterford involving one of his associates, which is believed to have resulted in a recent killing, may have been the motive behind the attack.

Preliminary reports indicate that about 9:00 pm, Boucher was sitting along a section of Kendal Road in an area known as “Third World” when he was approached by armed men who opened fire, hitting him multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The Waterford-raised artiste has been recording music since 2008. His songs include Di Ras Hot, Vice Grip and Buss A Bubble.

The 47-year-old recently gained widespread attention for portraying Claudie Massop in the film Bob Marley: One Love.

Boucher was born in Spanish Town, St Catherine and was a Jamaican citizen. In recent years, he resided in the United States.
