Fit For Forever
Beyond the shared routines and quiet workout encouragement grew a romance destined for a lifetime. Celieciah Williams and Shemar Henry turned a chance encounter into a storyline which takes the ultimate step from gym partners to life partners.
A routine visit to Unique Fitness 2.0 Gym in Twickenham Park, Spanish Town, in May 2023, became the opening chapter of their love story. Celieciah had her eyes set on her fitness goals. But for Shemar, one look was all it took to know she was the one.
“I was already inside and I saw her as she hurriedly got changed to get her workout started. As soon as she came in the room, the energy shifted in the most delightful way,” Shemar told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “I fell in love right there and then.”
Months of workouts and casual run-ins gradually deepened into meaningful conversations. Beyond their passion for fitness, they quickly discovered a mutual love for food and family. Yet it was Shemar’s chivalry — specifically, his eagerness to fetch Celieciah’s favourite blue exercise mat — that tipped her off to his true feelings. Though she initially made it clear she wasn’t interested, Shemar remained undeterred.
A casual date at Hellshire Beach laid the foundation for a friendship. But it was a year later when Celieciah’s feelings shifted. Taking the leap together, she found herself drawn not only to Shemar’s strong faith and grounded character, but to the loving dynamic of his family. It didn’t take long for her to realise that Shemar was everything she had ever envisaged in a partner.
“I knew he was the one when he gave his life to the Lord and how consistently and intentionally he loved me from the moment we met. Yet, what lingered most was his unwavering character and how well he treated and love his family. During the tenure of our relationship I never had any doubt in my mind. He was an answered prayer,” Celieciah said.
What Celieciah thought was a routine date night on September 6, 2025, became a life-changing celebration. Surrounded by loved ones at Trio Grill Wine Bar, Shemar proposed.
“We got to the restaurant and we were seated outside right below a heavy-blowing fan. I said, ‘Babe, I can’t stay here because the fan is blowing directly in my back’. He perked up and called a waitress immediately to have us change seats. But little did I know that I was playing directly into his plans,” Celieciah said. “I was brought to a private area and, as soon as the curtains moved, I heard a saxophonist playing This is Why I Love You by Major. Then I saw my closest family and friends with the beautiful ‘Will You Marry Me?’ banner in the back. For every face I recognised I screamed and cried a little more. It was beautiful, it was surreal! But most of all, it felt right.”
Celieciah and Shemar exchanged vows on March 26, 2026, at Casa De La Vega in Spanish Town, St Catherine, against a beautifully styled backdrop by Millennium Styles.
Escorted up the aisle by Ronald Baker and Robert Smith to a blend of CeCe Winans’ Goodness of God and Teeks’ First Time, Celieciah was a vision in a breathtaking ball gown from LuxBridesJa. Guided by Pastor Phillip Johnson, Celieciah and Shemar pledged their lives to one another in an intimate ceremony.
Festivities carried over into the reception, with loved ones raising their glasses in celebration of the newly-weds. Following the cutting of their two-tiered wedding cake, Celieciah and Shemar shared their first dance as husband and wife to Bradley Marshall’s Perfect For Me, capturing the spirit of the start of their journey to forever.
Celieciah and Shemar later escaped to Princess Grand Jamaica Hotel in Negril for their honeymoon.
