Condolence book opened for Stephen Francis ahead of funeral this Saturday
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Sport Minister Olivia Grange has announced the opening of a condolence book for Stephen Francis ahead of the thanksgiving service for the late track and field coach this Saturday, August 15.
The thanksgiving service for the legendary coach — who passed away on July 4 at age 64, after a period of illness — will be held at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Independence Park, starting at 11 am.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the condolence book will be opened at the Ministry on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and the thanksgiving service will be streamed live on TVJ.
Minister Grange has hailed Francis as an exceptional coach whose work brought pride to the country and transformed the lives of countless athletes.
