CAR Jamaica had its full model line-up on display at a Coffee & Chat with Car test-drive event on Saturday, July 25, at its Lady Musgrave Road showroom.

For Renault, there were the Kwid, Kiger, and Triber. As CAR Jamaica’s cheapest car, the Kwid features a 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 5-speed automated manual transmission, capable of over 50 miles per gallon. The Kiger is CAR Jamaica’s entry into the tough sub-compact SUV segment. This also uses a 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, this time turbocharged for more power and fuel economy, just under 47 miles per gallon. The Triber is aimed at those needing more space, as it is a 7-seater mini-MPV. It also uses a 1-litre, 3-cylinder engine that can deliver 50 miles per gallon.

The KGM models feature a trio of SUVs — the Torres, the Actyon, and the seven-seater Rexton. Powering the Torres and the Actyon is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. CAR Jamaica used the event to reveal the Actyon hybrid, which joins the petrol engine with an electric motor for both hybrid and limited electric-only range. The Rexton is a full-sized 7-seater SUV in the traditional sense. Under the bonnet is a 2.2-litre turbodiesel driving all four wheels.

“We will be adding a pickup and more electric models in the coming months,” Mellisa Bailey, general manager, CAR Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.
