Fi We Children Foundation (FWCF) has condemned the altercation at the Zimi Seh Beach party in St Ann that left two teenage boys, ages 15 and 17, injured.

At least two men have been charged in relation to the viral brawl.

In a release on Friday, FWCF said based on video footage circulating online, the altercation appears to have continued for some time without any visible intervention by security personnel. It said the apparent absence of security intervention is a serious concern, particularly at a large event where young people are present.

FWCF is also concerned that music reportedly continued to play for a period during the altercation before it was eventually paused. This raises questions about how quickly the incident was identified and whether adequate systems were in place to respond to emergencies and prevent further harm, the foundation said.

While FWCF acknowledges that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and that allegations must be determined by the appropriate authorities, it said event organisers have a responsibility to take reasonable steps to protect attendees, particularly children and young people.

FWCF has called on the organisers to do more to ensure that adequate security, supervision and emergency response measures are in place at future events. Large scale events involving young people must have clear mechanisms for promptly identifying and responding to violence, the foundation said.

It added that it wishes the two injured teenagers a full recovery and urges all parties involved to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
