ATLANTIC Hardware & Plumbing Company Limited is preparing to introduce e-commerce and expand its product portfolio after revenue jumped 69 per cent and profit more than tripled during the first half of 2026.

Managing Director Deanall Barnes told the Jamaica Observer on Monday that the hardware distributor had begun discussions on establishing an e-commerce platform as part of a wider effort to strengthen its digital footprint and use technology to improve its operations.

“On the technology front, we have commenced discussions on introducing an e-commerce platform, alongside broader consideration of how technology can be used to enhance the business — from inventory management to customer service — ultimately with a view of continuing to improve our bottom line,” he said to the Business Observer.

The digital push follows a sharp increase in sales at the company, which listed on the Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange in April 2025.

For the three months ended June 30, Atlantic reported record revenue of $776.4 million, up 92 per cent from $404.8 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Net profit rose 140 per cent to $42 million from $17.5 million.

Revenue for the six-month period increased 69 per cent year-on-year to $1.46 billion, while net profit more than tripled to $116.3 million from $33.9 million.

The company’s balance sheet also strengthened, as shareholders’ equity rose to $596.3 million and cash and cash equivalents more than doubled year-on-year to $255 million. Total assets on the other hand stood at $1.6 billion at the end of June.

Atlantic, which has operated since 1994 and distributes more than 2,400 hardware and building products from leading global brands, including Stanley, DeWalt, Black & Decker, Bosch and WD-40.

For its 2025 financial year, the company recorded revenue of $1.8 billion and net profit of $68.9 million.

Barnes said Atlantic’s new agricultural distribution division had become a significant contributor to revenue and was expected to support further growth as the company added products.

Launched earlier this year, the division has distribution rights for brands, including Bonanza seeds, Nutramix feed, and Bellota machetes. It generated approximately $300 million in revenue during the first half of 2026.

“We continue to expand within that category and will shortly be introducing a wider variety of seeds and pesticides — these products have already been tested by our suppliers, orders have been placed, and we anticipate arrival by mid-third quarter,” Barnes said.

He said Atlantic also sees opportunities to expand the division into fertilisers, veterinary products, and home and garden lines while assessing other categories that complement its existing distribution infrastructure and broad customer base.

As the company adjusts its procurement strategy in response to disruptions to global shipping, Barnes said it continues to deepen relationships with local and regional suppliers to reduce the risk of stock-outs as it manages its expanded portfolio.

The strategy has become increasingly important as Atlantic continues to widen its product offerings while seeking to maintain reliable supplies for customers.

Despite potentially subdued macroeconomic conditions, Barnes said management remains cautiously optimistic about the company’s prospects for the remainder of the financial year.

As the company plans to continue growing market share by widening its range of traditional hardware and building products alongside increasing its participation in government projects, the managing director said it will also tighten partnerships with suppliers to target major hotel developments.

“Disciplined capital allocation and continued balance sheet strength remain central to funding this growth,” Barnes said.
