A field of five two-year-olds will line up for the second juvenile race of the season on Saturday at Caymanas Park.

It’s a Maiden Special Weight for native-bred and imported horses going 3 furlongs (600m), and the race looks to be a walk in the park for Birthday King.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at each runner and their chances of winning.

1. BORNE IDENTITY: (2 b c Bern Identity – Primo Extreme) – Nicely-bred colt who has been training fairly well for this. He’s yet to race, but the work has been good. Borne Identity is expected to chase home the favourite.

2. MANDY: (2 ch f by Whiskey Double – Lady Blue) – Came home fourth on debut over this same 3 furlongs on August 8 behind Boss Over Boss. That run should have knocked the rust off. Mandy should benefit from the experience and run a much-improved race here.

3. LEELA’S CHOICE: (2 b f by Sir Alton – Antoniette) – Another first-time starter. This is an exposure run to get her educated. Leela’s Choice should benefit from the experience more than she will impact the result.

4. GLAMA GIRL: (2 b f by Bern Identity – Indian Bluff) – Also ran on August 8, finishing fifth behind Boss Over Boss. She was well beaten that day. Glama Girl is expected to be left behind once more in this spot.

5. BIRTHDAY KING: (USA) (2 ch c by Kantharos – Always Kitten) – The only foreigner in the race and the one to beat. Well-bred and forward in his training. Birthday King looks ready to win first time out and should take all the beating.
