Former Lacovia star Dockery among four Jamaican winners in Berlin

Former Lacovia High School standout Sabrina Dockery was among four Jamaican winners at the ISTAF Berlin athletic meet at the Olympic stadium in Germany on Sunday.

Dockery won the women’s 100m with 11.13 seconds (-0.1m/s) at the World Athletic Continental Tour-Silver event. Germany’s Gina Luckemkemper was second in11.22 seconds while Jamaican-born Austrian national record holder Christania Williams was third with 11.22 seconds. Niesha Burgher won the B final with 11.58 seconds (0.6m/s).

Meanwhile, Kadrian Goldson had his fourth wind legal sub 10.00 seconds run as he clocked 9.98 seconds (0.0m/s) to win the men’s 100m, beating fellow Jamaican Travis Williams who was second in 10.10 seconds and Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu who was third with 10.17 seconds. Sachin Dennis won the B final with 10.26 seconds (-0.3m/s).

Wanda Diamond League finalist Rushell Clayton won the women’s 400m hurdles with 53.72 seconds, beating American Shamier Little who was second with 54.51 seconds and Zimbabwe’s Ashley Miller who was third with 54.59 seconds.

Two-time World Champion Danielle Williams won for the first time outdoors this season, taking the 100m hurdles with 12.78 seconds (-0.2m/s), holding off American Amber Hughes and France’s Lesticia Baptist, both credited with the same time- 12.88 seconds. Jamaica’s Demisha Roswell was fourth with 12.92 seconds.

Many time national champion Danniel Thomas-Dodd finished fourth in the women’s shot put with 18.86m as Chase Jackson broke the American and meeting records with 21.02m. Two-time Commonwealth Games champion Sarah Mitton of Canada was second with 20.10m and Germany’s Yesimi Mabry was third with 19.73m.

In the meantime, Megan Simmonds and Roje Stona both had runners-up finishes at the Gala dei Castelli, in Bellinzona, Switzerland.

Simmonds ran 12.53 seconds (0.7m/s) in the 100m hurdles, behind American Rayniah Jones’ 12.44 seconds with World Champion Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland third with 12.71 seconds.

Stona, the Olympic Games men’s discus throw record holder, threw 68.14m as Lithuania’s Mykolas Alekna won with a meet record 71.50m and Germany’s Henrik Janssen was third in 67.19m. Two-time men’s indoor high jump bronze medalist Raymond Richards was third with 2.24m behind world leader JuVaughn Harrison of the USA who won with 2.28m while Oleh Doroshchuk of Ukraine was second, also with 2.24m.

Ackeem Blake finished down the track in the men’s 100m, running 10.12 seconds (0.0m/s), as Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi won with 9.91 seconds, ahead of American Ronnie Baker- 9.94 seconds and South Africa’s Akani Simbine, 9.95 seconds.

Lavanya Williams, who was the 13th Jamaican woman to run a sub-11.00 seconds 100m a week ago, ran 11.53 seconds in the women’s 100m on Sunday.
