Whizz Kidd pulled a 23-1 upset in the $1.25-million O&S Tack Room Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday, coming from off the pace to beat his more fancied rivals by four and three-quarter lengths.

Trained by Anthony Subratie and ridden by apprentice Richie Shakes, Whizz Kidd raced among the backmarkers for most of way in the Restricted Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward before unleashing a thunderous run in deep stretch on the outside of runners.

The six-year-old bay horse, Whizz Kidd, was sent off as a 23-1 outsider but came with a sustained run to go clear late and win going away. Cookie Day N Night (Emelio McLean) finished second, while I Dream Again (Robert Halledeen) was third. The winning time for the race was 1:39.1 (24.0 x 47.0 x 1:13.4 x 1:27.0).

Tevin Foster further extended his lead in the jockeys’ championship with a three-timer on the card.

Foster won aboard Birthday King in the second race and Gallant Groom in the seventh, both for trainer Jason DaCosta, before completing his hat-trick on Lauren’s Secret in the eighth for Patrick Lynch.

The win takes Foster to 65 winners for the season. He now leads Raddesh Roman by six, with Roman remaining on 59 winners after going winless on the day.
