In memory of a cheerful professional

The Jamaica Debates Commission expresses its condolence to the family and friends of journalist Dervan Malcolm.
Malcolm was a part of the team of journalists from a mix of media houses who assisted the organisation over several cycles as a moderator during the televised pre-election debates ahead of general and municipal elections. He last served in that capacity ahead of the 2025 General Election when he moderated the debate between the leaders of the Jamaica Labour Party and People’s National Party.
Malcolm brought cheerful professionalism to a role that he considered a civic duty, and consistently demonstrated an even-handedness that appealed both to debaters and viewers.
