Songwriter and executive producer Paulette Trowers has transformed her personal experiences into How Yuh Know Mi, a 10-track album performed by reggae singer Harmonique.

Trowers said she knew from the beginning that she needed a female vocalist capable of interpreting the project’s wide emotional range.

“I asked God for that person,” she said. “Then I heard Harmonique’s voice as part of the harmony on a Jamaica Festival song that reached the top 30, and something clicked.”

After sending Harmonique the lyrics to Heart Like a Feather, Trowers needed only a few words to recognise that she had found the right singer.

“There was strength, warmth and emotion in her voice, but also something that felt authentic,” she explained. “Harmonique could interpret the songs and make them believable.”

Subtitled A Paulette Trowers Musical Story — Season 1, the album explores faith, identity, motherhood, Jamaica, womanhood, relationships, self-worth, healing and survival.

“The album is not fiction dressed up as autobiography,” Trowers said. “My mother, my faith, Jamaica, womanhood, relationships, music, healing, narrow escapes and survival are all there.”

The project opens with Thank You and closes with the Jamaican farewell Walk Good. Each track tells an individual story while collectively answering the album’s central question: “How yuh know mi?”

Development and production took place between January and July 2026. Despite time constraints, Trowers and her team completed the album within months while she learned about Grammy submission procedures and deadlines.

The Jamaican production team includes Harmonique on lead vocals; Samantha Tugman on harmonies; Jahnoi “Selah” Nunes as recording, mixing and mastering engineer; guitarists Jowayne Campbell and Narado Williams; bassist Travis French; keyboardist Kewell Mitchell; horn player Raheem Vassell; and drummer Keydon Robinson.

Trowers said the season one designation reflects her ambition to develop the material into a theatrical presentation incorporating dancers, music and movement.

The album also serves as proof of concept for Trowers Zamar Records, which aims to develop Jamaican talent and create authentic music with global appeal.

“We started and we finished. That is already success,” Trowers said. “For Harmonique and me, I would like this project to be the beginning.”
