JRC to host Grooms’ Training Seminar on October 8

…Health checks, rules education, and awards on the agenda

The Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC), the regulatory body of horse racing in Jamaica, will host a Grooms’ Training Seminar for all licensed grooms on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Caymanas Park.

According to the JRC, the seminar is designed to support the continued training and professional development of grooms, with a strong emphasis on professional standards, horse care and welfare, safety, and compliance with the Rules of Racing.

Activities on the day include, health and wellness awareness talks along with health checks by the Ministry of Health; horse racing rules education; financial services agencies (Sagicor and JMMB) awards, prizes, gifts, and recognition.

Interested grooms can register with Fabian White, president of the Racehorse Grooms’ Association. The deadline to register is Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
