MOJITO is back in the winner’s enclosure.

The Richard Azan-trained five-year-old grey horse ended a five-race losing streak with a determined victory in the 22nd running of the $1.25-million Arthur Jones Memorial Cup at Caymanas Park on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

With jockey Tajay Suckoo aboard,
Mojito tracked the pace from mid-pack before finding a seam along the rail to win going away.

Breaking from the field in the Overnight Allowance contest over 6 furlongs (1,200m)
Mojito settled in fourth as Formalist (Abigail Able), Wall Street Trader (Nicardo Carr), and Cooler King (Reyan Lewis) set the fractions.

Suckoo kept Mojito saving ground along the inside rails approaching the half-mile turn.
Wall Street Trader made his move deep in the stretch and looked home, but Mojito wasn’t done. In the final furlong, the grey horse found another gear along the rail, surged past and drew clear to win by 1½ lengths.

Wall Street Trader held second, with Zulu Warrior (Tyrese Anderson) rallying late for third. The final time was a smooth 1:13.1, with splits of 23.4 x 48.0 x 1:00.2.

It was a patient ride from Suckoo, who just days earlier lost his apprentice bug after hitting 60 wins.

“The trainer said to just get a good break at the start of the race but don’t be in any rush because
Mojito has speed so I must not rush him and try to burn him out,” Suckoo said.

“I got a good break and I was right there. I put him on his bit and when I was ready I just moved. At the half-mile, I got a little bounce and I made it clear while coming into the quarter. It was a little bit tight and I asked for my space and they ended up letting it go and I just pushed him through and that was it,” he further said.
