KINGSTON, Jamaica—Tina Clayton joined an impressive list of Jamaicans to win the women’s 100m Diamond League trophy after she sped to 10.93 seconds on Saturday’s second and final day of the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium.

Clayton became the fifth Jamaican woman to take the trophy, joining four-time champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, three-time champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shericka Jackson and Veronica Campbell-Brown.

She was also the fourth Jamaican to win Diamond trophies at this year’s meet after Rajindra Campbell threw a national record 23.08m to win the men’s shot put, Oblique Seville won the men’s 100m and Tajay Gayle the men’s long jump on Friday.

Great Britain’s Amy Hunt was second in the women’s 100m in 11.06 seconds, American Sha’Carrie Richardson was third in 11.07 seconds, and Jamaica’s Jonielle Smith was fifth in 11.08 seconds.

Three Jamaicans placed third in their respective events: Nickisha Pryce in the women’s 400m, Megan Simmonds in the 100m hurdles and Jordan Scott in the men’s triple jump.

Pryce ran 49.36 seconds for her podium finish as Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic set a meet record of 48.64 seconds to win her fourth Diamond trophy in five years and complete an unblemished Diamond League season. Henriette Jaeger of Norway was second with 49.20 seconds.

Simmonds ran a season’s best 12.43 seconds (1.0m/s), for third in the 100m hurdles, which was won by world record holder Masai Russell in a meet record 12.20 seconds, under the 12.27 seconds set in 2022 by Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.

Devynne Charlton broke her own Bahamian national record with 12.33 seconds to take second place.

Scott jumped 17.18m (0.2m/s) in the first round to finish behind Italy’s Andy Diaz Hernandez, who had a meet record of 17.74m (-0.6m/s), bettering Christian Taylor’s 17.66m set in 2019, with Pedro Pichardo of Portugal second with 17.51m (0.0m/s).

Lamara Distin was sixth in the women’s high jump with a best clearance of 1.88m.

Sabrina Dockery won the women’s invitational 100m in 11.17 seconds (0.1m/s), beating Australia’s Torrie Lewis- 11.24 seconds with Jael Bestue of Spain placing third with 11.28 seconds.

Kadrian Goldson was second in the men’s invitational 100m in 10.05 seconds (-0.2m/s), just beaten by Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu with 10.04 seconds, with American Max Thomas third with 10.23 seconds.
