BCIC insurance matter resolved
Dear Claudienne,
I am seeking your assistance regarding an unresolved insurance matter stemming from a motor vehicle collision that occurred in June 2022. I filed a claim for compensation with the third party’s insurer; however, to date, the matter remains unsettled.
Despite my repeated efforts to obtain updates, I have not received any meaningful progress from either insurance company. When I contact my insurer, General Accident, I am informed that they are awaiting a response from the third party’s insurer, BCIC. Conversely, BCIC has advised me to liaise directly with General Accident and, on one occasion, mentioned that they are waiting on their insured to make a decision. Also, I was advised soon after the claim in 2022 by my insurer representative that I will be getting a claim of contributary negligence because, according to BCIC, both parties were negligent. This ongoing back-and-forth has persisted for over three years without resolution. I rejected the original offer made by General Accident to me to settle the claim but decided to accept it on December 19,2022.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance or intervention you can provide to help bring this matter to a conclusion.

Dear SD
BCIC, when contacted, told Tell Claudienne that to disclose information on the matter to the column, your consent was needed under the privacy Act. The column gave you the name of the BCIC claims managers and suggested that you speak with her. After you contacted her, she sent you a claims form that you filled out and returned. However, because you put an incorrect bank account number on the form you did not receive the compensation sum from BCIC. However, you only realised that you had made an error after Tell Claudienne made General Accident aware on August 12, 2026, that you had not yet received compensation for the accident from BCIC. You were then contacted by the CEO of General Accident and it was when you gave him, the CEO’s secretary, your bank account number and checks were made, that you realised your error and gave her the correct bank account number.
We wish you all the best.
