Greatness Weekend chooses Kingston
Greatness Group CEO Larone Brown wants Kingston to become a destination that Jamaicans and overseas visitors deliberately choose for the Heroes’ Day weekend, with entertainment serving as a catalyst for greater economic activity across the capital.
That vision is driving Greatness Weekend 2026, which returns October 16-19 with four events spanning music, food, fashion and nightlife. Dubbed ‘Kingston’s Official Party Weekend,’ the series is being supported by the “I Choose Kingston” campaign, which encourages patrons to stay, dine, explore and spend in the city throughout the long weekend.
“Kingston is the mecca of Jamaican entertainment. ‘I Choose Kingston’ is our invitation for people to come into the city, stay here, eat here, support local businesses and experience four quality Jamaican events in one weekend. Our vision is for heroes’ weekend in Kingston to become something people plan and travel for,” Brown said.
Brown, who is also promoter of the Greatness Pink & White Brunch, believes the impact can extend beyond the events themselves, creating opportunities for businesses and workers involved in accommodation, transportation, food and beverage, security, event production, entertainment, and other creative services.
The festivities begin on Friday, October 16 with PCF: Pool Cooler Fete, which marks its 10th anniversary with its South Beach Edition. The staging will give the event’s signature poolside concept a South Beach-inspired treatment, while its VIP offering will be food inclusive.
“Ten years of PCF represents 10 years of building an experience that people continue to choose. South Beach gives us an opportunity to refresh that experience while maintaining the energy and identity our patrons know and love,” promoter Curtis Hyatt said.
Another decade milestone follows on Saturday, October 17, when RECALL: Throwback Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with ‘Straight Jeans & Fitted’.
Centred on the music, fashion and party culture of the 1990s and 2000s, the event is designed to recreate the atmosphere associated with the era.
“RECALL is more than playing ‘old’ music. It’s the fashion, the dancing, the songs you know word for word, and the energy of an era when people came to a party to genuinely enjoy themselves. Ten years later, that connection is still there,” promoter Fabian O’Hara said.
On Sunday, October 18, the focus shifts to CUPS: Château Blanc, a premium blue-and-white breakfast party combining food, entertainment and the event’s signature party experience in a château-inspired setting.
“Château Blanc takes CUPS into a different space; premium, stylish and intentional, while still maintaining the energy people expect from us. It’s a fresh experience, and we’re excited to introduce it for Greatness Weekend,” promoter Tamark Bailey said.
Greatness Weekend closes on Heroes’ Day, Monday, October 19, with the Greatness Pink & White Brunch, a premium food-inclusive event bringing together cuisine, entertainment, fashion and lifestyle.
The Jamaica Pegasus has signed on as the official hotel partner for Greatness Weekend 2026, a partnership organisers hope will strengthen the connection between Kingston’s entertainment and hospitality sectors, particularly among diaspora and international visitors travelling to Jamaica for the weekend.
For Brown, the ultimate objective is to establish the four-day series as more than a collection of parties, but as an annual reason to experience Kingston and support the businesses that operate within it.
