ERROL Stevens, Brown’s Town High head coach, says he was pleased with the discipline displayed by his players during their school record 20-0 whipping of newcomers Walkerswood Academy in the ISSA daCosta Cup Zone C football game at Drax Hall on Saturday.

Jamaal Johnson scored four times and Javier Henry got a hat-trick for Brown’s Town in what was a baptism of fire for 10-man Walkerswood Academy.

Basil Trail, Onardo Flowers, Jaiquan Black and Cean Benjamin notched two goals each, while Kasumi Hemmings, Qweci Graham, Rolando Thomas, Ras-Renaldiho and Marlon Treasure rounded out the 11 players who got on the scoresheet.

Brown’s Town’s 20 goals bettered the combined 17 they scored in 10 games last season.

Stevens told the Jamaica Observer that he was not surprised by the margin of victory.

“They got an early red card, [given to] the goalkeeper, which made it more difficult as they were already under 0-9 by that time,” said Stevens who made five appearances for Jamaica’s senior Reggae Boyz.

He said he was satisfied with Brown’s Town approach, despite facing an opposition that offered very little in terms of resistance.

“I was pleased by their attitude to maintain our structure for most of the game. When you play against a team that you are dominating, players tend to lack positional discipline — and we have to be consistent with that no matter the opponent,” Stevens said.

In another game in the zone, Marcus Garvey Technical defeated Discovery Bay High 10-1.

With Marcus Garvey their next opponents on Tuesday, Stevens said Brown’s Town’s positive start could offer the ideal momentum heading into that contest.

“It’s always good to start with a positive result. Being a former player, and at their age, I know you always want to get that first goal to settle the season. [On Saturday] we had most of the attackers on the scoresheet so that should give them confidence in front of goal,” the Brown’s Town coach said.

Elsewhere on Saturday, former daCosta Cup champions Rusea’s High were 8-0 winners over Little London High; Munro College beat Lacovia High 4-1; Frome Technical were awarded three points and three goals against Grange Hill; and Herbert Morrison Technical defeated Muschett High 3-0.

Vere Technical were held to a 0-0 result by Foga Road High.

Sheldon Morrison scored a double for Robert Lightbourne High in their 3-1 win over Fair Prospect. Morrison netted in the 29th and 79th minutes, while Eric Barrett hit the target in the 76th. Richard Anganoo scored for Fair Prospect in the 88th minute.
