ITA working to restore services following fibre network disruption
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A break in the telecommunications fibre network that serves the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) is affecting the delivery of learner’s permits, driver’s licences and certificates of fitness as the company works to restore connectivity.
In a statement on Wednesday, the ITA said it was working with its telecommunications provider to solve the issue and resume normal operations at its service hubs.
This follows another disruption where the processing of Electronic Certificates of Fitness (eFitness) was temporarily halted across all ITA Service Hubs.
The authority noted the provider is actively carrying out repairs to the affected fibre network, with efforts focused on restoring connectivity and resuming normal operations as soon as possible.
The ITA committed to providing an update on the status of the repairs and the availability of services, so customers can make the necessary arrangements.
The authority apologised for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and understanding as work continues to restore full service.
