The Sports Girlie takes youth development tour into Season 3
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Sports Girlie is taking its national tour into a third season with a broader focus on what it means to prepare young athletes for life beyond competition.
Launched on September 4 under the theme “Elevate Everything”, season three will run from September to December and is expected to make between eight and 10 stops across Jamaica, building on the programme’s engagement with 12 school communities over its first two seasons.
Founded by Jamaican sports broadcaster and entrepreneur Jeanae Robinson, The Sports Girlie has traditionally used sport as a platform to engage young people, but the latest edition is placing greater emphasis on the skills and experiences that can shape their lives away from the playing field.
“Talent matters, but so do character, financial habits, mental well-being, personal presentation, media readiness and the ability to build a sustainable future,” Robinson said.
Season three will be divided into two programmes: the Campus Series and Next Gen Series, targeting different stages of the student-athlete journey.
The Campus Series will cater to college and university communities through summit-style sessions focused on career opportunities, leadership, entrepreneurship, representation and networking, as well as the transition from education into the sporting industry.
The Next Gen Series, meanwhile, will target secondary-school students with a more interactive approach centred on confidence, decision-making, personal responsibility, sportsmanship and awareness of opportunities within sport.
A major addition this season will be the Elevate Hub, which will serve as a workshop space covering financial literacy, mental health, personal hygiene, branding and representation, character development and sportsmanship. Nutrition, hydration and media readiness will also form part of the programme.
The tour will also introduce a Future Hub, designed to connect students with information from sporting federations, educational institutions and development organisations. The aim is to expose
participants to scholarships, development programmes and other opportunities that could allow them to remain involved in sport even if they do not pursue a professional playing career.
The programme will be supported by a network of 21 Sports Girlie ambassadors, including athletes, broadcasters and other sports professionals who will contribute their experiences and provide
mentorship to participants.
Beyond the tour, The Sports Girlie has been expanding into a wider sports media and youth-development platform through its podcast, playbook, digital storytelling, ambassador programme and volunteer movement.
Robinson said the third season is ultimately about encouraging young athletes to view themselves as more than competitors.
“Season three is designed to help our participants see themselves as complete people and future leaders, not only as players,” she said.
The 2026 programme is also expected to feature an Ambassador Impact Project, while schools, universities, sporting associations, corporate organisations and community groups are being invited to participate in the tour.
