ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A person of interest who was being sought for the shooting of a recording artiste was arrested by the police in St Andrew on Friday.

The suspect, Daveian Lewis, otherwise called ‘Rasta’, a chef from Central Avenue in Greenwich Town, St Andrew, had been on the run for the past three years.

He was reportedly held after an intelligence-led, coordinated operation between the Area 2 and Area 4 Fugitive Apprehension Teams.

Lewis was handed over to the Constant Spring Police Station, and arrangements were being made for him to be transported to the Buff Bay Police Station in Portland.

The suspect was being sought for the shooting and injuring of a 25-year-old entertainer at a bar in Buff Bay.

Reports were that at approximately 12:55 pm on April 1, 2023, the artiste was at the bar with several people when he was pounced upon by a gunman. The gunman opened fire before fleeing the area.

Following investigations, police listed Lewis as a person of interest and requested that he hand himself over to the authorities.
