In a dramatic turnaround of form, four-year-old chestnut filly My HoneyDew (Hedge Fund – Ricqualia) easily brushed aside her rivals to break her maiden in a native-bred four-year-old contest over 6½ furlongs (1,300m) at Caymanas Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The Henry Harrison-trained filly, who had finished off the board in all three previous starts, was a completely different animal on this occasion, running out a comfortable 5½-length winner under Chalrick Budhai.

My HoneyDew’s earlier form gave little indication of what was to come. She finished 14th, beaten 36 lengths on debut over 6 ½ furlongs on April 19, then ran 6th, beaten 3¾ lengths over 4 furlongs (800m) on June 7, and was again 6th, beaten 16 lengths over 5 furlongs (1,00m) straight on July 5.

But from the jump on Saturday she looked transformed. Breaking well, she raced in second behind
GreyLightning (Nicardo Carr) down the backstretch before mounting a steady challenge. Approaching the distance, Budhai asked her to go and My HoneyDew responded, hitting the front with authority.

She was briefly challenged in deep stretch by Drop Off (Tajay Suchoo) and Tilluride (Richie Shakes), but found another gear in the closing stages to draw clear and win with plenty in hand.

Drop Off held second and Tilluride was third. The final time was 1:25.0, with splits of 24.1, 49.4, 1:18.1.

The victory gives trainer Henry Harrison and jockey Chalrick Budhai a timely boost, and suggests
My HoneyDew may have turned the corner after a slow start to her career. Harrison was registering is second win for the season, while it was the third winner for Budhai in the saddle.
