The battle for the 2026 jockeys’ championship title heated up last weekend, as defending champion Raddesh Roman closed the gap on leader Tevin Foster.

Going into last week’s race meet, Foster enjoyed a seven-win cushion at the top of the standing. But it was a weekend to forget for the current leader, who finished winless from his allotment of rides.

Roman, in contrast, booted home one winner — Sooryavanshi — to trim Foster’s advantage to just six wins.

According to the latest statistics released by Caymanas Park, Foster leads with 68 wins, 50 seconds, and 40 thirds from 313 mounts and Stakes earnings of $58,932,450.

Roman has 62 wins, 54 seconds, and 44 thirds from 270 mounts and Stakes earnings of $51,610,700.

What makes the race even more intriguing is the efficiency. Foster leads by six but has had 43 more mounts than Roman (313 to 270), and Roman has actually finished second more times (54 versus 50), showing how consistent he has been.

Foster will be looking to bounce back quickly tomorrow on the 10-race card. He has six rides —
Laurie, Victorious Links, Native Isle in the Louis Hitchins Memorial Cup, California Crown, Girvano in the Kenneth Mattis feature, and Mineola.

Roman also has six rides and has the momentum. His lone winner Sooryavanishi last Saturday was a patient ride, and he will be aboard Fernando, Infinity Star in the Louis Hitchins Memorial Cup, Rainsville, King Crush, Neo Star in the Kenneth Mattis, and Miss Braeton.

With just over three months of the season left, every win now counts double.
