The two-year-old division is starting to heat up, and Sooryavanshi just turned up the temperature.

Named after Indian cricket’s rising sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the chestnut daughter of
Successful Native out of Coco Chanel showed on Saturday, September 12, 2026 that the hype is real — blitzing four rivals to break her maiden over four furlongs (800m) in eye-catching style.

It was a different filly from the one we saw on August 8. That day, she was green but gritty, chasing
Boss Over Boss home over three furlongs (600m) to finish second by 2½ lengths.

Lesson learned. This time, trainer Anthony Nunes had her razor-sharp coming into the race and champion jockey Raddesh Roman left nothing to chance.

After the late scratch of stablemate Yeet left a field of five, Roman bounced Sooryavanshi out cleanly and sent her straight to the lead. From there it was a masterclass in gate-to-wire speed.

She carved out a brisk opening quarter in 24.1 seconds and never looked back, pouring it on down the lane to stop the clock in 48.2 seconds — 1¾ lengths clear at the wire, with another 7¾ lengths back to third.

There was promise behind her too as first-time starter Luna Eclipse, trained by Robert Pearson, came with a strong late run under Omar Walker to grab second and looks one to put straight in the notebook. Debutant Awhodat, with Robert Halledeen in the irons, stayed on for third.

The juvenile honours so far belong to the big two. Jason DaCosta struck first with Boss Over Boss on August 8 and doubled up with imported colt Birthday King. Now Nunes has answered with Sooryavanshi.

The next event on the two-year-old calendar is slated for Saturday, September 26.
