August 27 will be remembered by gospel deejay Prince Saj as a major milestone in his career. Both the cities of Lauderhill and Tamara in Florida celebrated his career achievements by declaring it Prince Saj Day.

The gospel artiste received proclamations from Tamarac’s Commissioner Dr Kicia Daniel and Lauderhill’s Mayor Denise Grant.

What began with the power of music and performance became a celebration of a man whose journey and testimony continue to inspire.

Following what has been described as an unforgettable performance at the Faith Centre in Fort Lauderdale, Prince Saj delivered a powerful testimony that touched hearts and reminded everyone that behind every stage, every song, and every success is a story of faith, struggle, perseverance, and purpose.

DaJourney Production, which handles Prince Saj’s affairs, extended its gratitude to both Mayor Grant and Commissioner Daniel in a release shared with the Jamaica Observer.

“DaJourney Production extends its deepest gratitude to Mayor Denise D Grant and Commissioner Kicia Daniel for recognising Prince Saj and helping [to] make this historic occasion possible. Their acknowledgement represents the power of community leadership to celebrate artistes whose work reaches beyond entertainment and touches lives,” the statement read.

Prince Saj, in an interview with the Observer on Friday, said: “I am indeed still in awe. At that moment I honestly couldn’t believe what was happening. While receiving the proclamations I became very emotional. To think about my journey from once being abandoned and experiencing homelessness to now being recognised and having an entire day dedicated to honouring me and the work that I continue to do for God is something that is difficult to put into words.”

He added: “For me, these proclamations are bigger than just personal recognition. They are a reminder that the work we have been doing for God is reaching people, making an impact, and being recognised beyond what we sometimes see.”

According to Prince Saj, the event held at The Faith Centre was a special moment for him musically, having shared the stage with veteran gospel deejay Papa San.

“Sharing that platform and being part of such a significant occasion is something I will always remember,” he said.

Prince Saj is nominated in the Male Artiste of the Year while his 2025 album, Fully Jesus, appears in the category Album of the Year in the 10th staging of the Sterling Gospel Music Awards.

He shared that new music is on the way.

“Over the past few months we have been working on a number of new songs and developing the next chapter of the music. By the grace of God we are hoping to release a new Prince Saj album in 2027. The goal is always bigger than simply releasing songs. We want to continue creating music that reaches people, especially young people and those who may feel forgotten, discouraged, or disconnected from God,” Prince Saj disclosed.

Still, he believes his mission is not done.

“Looking back at where I started and seeing where God has brought me today only gives me more reason to keep going. There is still much more work to be done, and as long as God continues to give me the strength and opportunity, I intend to keep using my testimony, my music, and my ministry to point people back to Him. I am grateful. I am humbled. And I am excited for what is ahead,” he said.
