Five years after its debut, Jamaican reality entertainment series 876 Roommates is making its return for Season 2, promising a bigger production, fresh talent, greater fan involvement, and $5 million in cash and prizes.

The comeback has been years in the making, but according to creator and CEO Kazrae “Mr Bucktoe” Gray, it was the continued demand from fans that ultimately made it clear that
876Roommates needed to return.

“The fans never gave up on the show. We constantly receive DMs asking when 876Roommates will return, and whenever I go live fans are always asking about the show,” Gray said. “That continued support and demand made it clear that people were ready for another season.”

This time around, Gray says the production is returning with more experience, a clearer vision, and a greater understanding of the audience that has remained connected to the
876Roommates brand over the past five years.

Season 2 will centre on unity, collaboration, and showcasing talent, bringing together creators with different personalities, backgrounds, and abilities under one roof. While entertainment remains at the heart of the show, the new season will also give viewers a closer look at the people behind the online personalities and an opportunity to follow their individual journeys.

“This season really means a lot to me. When I started 876Roommates, I had little to no experience,” Gray said. “Now I’ve had the opportunity to look back, rewatch the footage, identify my mistakes, and understand where we could have done better. I’m taking everything I’ve learned and putting it into Season 2. This is our opportunity to make a bigger impact and give the audience entertainment on a whole different level.”

A total of $5 million in cash and prizes will be up for grabs, with one lucky person set to walk away with $2 million.

In another major change, there will be no eliminations. Instead of contestants being sent home throughout the season, the roommates will remain part of the experience as they build relationships and alliances, face challenges, learn from each other, and develop their respective talents.

The approach, Gray said, is intended to create an environment in which personalities and relationships can develop naturally rather than forcing moments for the cameras.

The selection process for Season 2 has also been centred on creativity. Applicants were asked to submit a one-minute skit or explain why they believed they deserved a room in the mansion, allowing the production team to assess their personality, creativity, and what they could potentially bring to the show.

Among those already handpicked for the cast are Rosalee, Jayden, Ackeem, Figure It Out, and Jabass, with additional cast announcements and surprises still to come.

“We wanted a mixture of personalities, creativity, and fresh new talent,” Gray said. “The goal was to create a cast with different backgrounds, personalities, and talents that could naturally interact, collaborate and create entertaining moments together.”

Season 2 will be filmed in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, placing Jamaican culture firmly at the centre of the experience. Humour, music, entertainment, creativity, and the country’s vibrant social media culture will all form part of the show’s identity.

“Jamaican culture is at the heart of 876Roommates,” Gray said. “The humour, music, personalities, creativity, and social media culture are all a major part of what makes the show unique. We want the season to feel authentic to Jamaica while still creating entertainment that people across the Caribbean and internationally can connect with.”

That wider reach is an important part of the vision for the returning series, with the production team hoping to use 876Roommates as another platform through which Jamaican creators and culture can reach audiences beyond the island.

“We’re not just thinking about where 876Roommates is today — we’re thinking about where the brand can go globally,” Gray said.

Fans will also become a bigger part of the show this season.

One of the new additions will be the 876Roommates Sports Day, which will allow each creator to select a super fan to participate alongside them. The event will also be open to the public, giving supporters an opportunity to attend, cheer for their favourite teams, and become part of the 876 Roommates experience.

The Sports Day is only one of several audience-focused additions being planned, with the production team keeping further details under wraps.

For Gray, allowing fans to see another side of the creators is equally important.

“We’re giving fans a chance to connect with the creators on a deeper level and see them in a different light,” he said. “We want viewers to understand their stories, personalities, and journeys beyond what they normally see on social media.”

The production is being led by Gray as CEO and creator, alongside director Carlington Silburn, Production Manager Marlon Smith, and host Samantha Brown, under Bucktoe Media Solutions. Additional partners and sponsors are expected to be announced as the season progresses.

While an official premiere date has not yet been confirmed, the production team says an announcement is coming soon.

“We’re not just bringing back the show; we’re bringing back the experience with more knowledge, bigger ideas, stronger production, more audience involvement, and a whole new level of entertainment,” Gray said. “We’ve learned from the past, and now it’s time to show what we can really do.”
