KINGSTON, Jamaica — FIFA president Gianni Infantino is at the National Stadium in Kingston for Jamaica’s Concacaf Nations League game against Guatemala.

Infantino arrived around 7:00 pm amid an ongoing re-election campaign for the top job in football.

The FIFA president’s campaign has been marred by controversy surrounding a proposal to take aspects of the World Cup to private investors, which prompted swift and widespread backlash from football associations worldwide.

Attendance at the match just an hour before kickoff was scant, with barely any seats filled at the sporting ground.

This is the first official match at the stadium since a record number of Jamaicans packed the venue to witness the possibility of the country booking a ticket for the 2026 World Cup in their Concacaf final round finale against Curacao.

That match ended nil-nil, and the resulting draw left the Reggae Boyz in second place in their group, sending Curacao through to the World Cup. They were forced into the inter-confederation play-offs and eliminated after falling to DR Congo.
