Dear Claudienne,

I am enquiring about money transferred from Chase Bank in the US to my contractor’s Jamaica National Bank – Ocho Rios Branch account. As discussed with you on the phone, today (September 16,) the money was sent via federal wire transfer from America on July 23, 2026. My contractor HP has provided the wire transfer details to the teller at the branch several times and they have said that they don’t see any money for him. After our phone call to you, my contractor went back to the Ocho Rios branch and met with the branch manager. She said that she did not see the wire transfer, despite him presenting the UETR/Fed Wire number to her.

Tell Claudienne has been in communication with Jamaica National on the matter and has received the following email response:

“JN Bank appreciates the concern and frustration this situation has caused the member, especially given the length of time that has passed since the transfer was initiated. Upon receiving your enquiry, JN Bank undertook a further review of the matter to determine the status of the transaction. We were unable to identify any record of the July 23, 2026, transfer being received by JN Bank. We understand this is disappointing for the parties involved, but our records indicate that the funds did not reach JN Bank for processing or credit to the customer’s account. With reference to the first transaction received by JN Bank and credited to the recipient’s account on July 13, 2026, the transaction was in fact received via an intermediary bank.

As recommended to the JN member, given that the July 23 transfer has not been received by JN bank, the most appropriate next step is for the sender and the originating bank to continue tracing the transaction through the payment chain, including the intermediary bank involved in the transfer process. This will help determine where the funds are currently located and facilitate further resolution.

JN Bank is committed to assisting its customers and, should additional information become available, the bank is willing to review the matter further.”

On receiving the JN e-mail, Tell Claudienne asked you to request Chase Bank to give you more information about the money that should have been transferred to your contractor’s JN account by the intermediary bank. The column notes that you contacted Chase Bank and have received the funds that should have been sent to your contractor’s JN account. Your wife has sent the following message to
Tell Claudienne “I wanted to thank you for all your help. We checked with our Chase Banker and the funds were returned to our account.We have already sent the funds to the contractor via Western Union.”
