Umbrella Evening Brunch set to return

UMBRELLA Evening Brunch is set to make its return to Jamaica this Christmas Eve, following the disruption of last year’s staging due to Hurricane Melissa.

The all-white, food-inclusive event will take place at Caymanas Golf Club in St Catherine on Thursday, December 24, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, promising patrons a premium entertainment and culinary experience.

Event curator Okice Davis said Umbrella Evening Brunch has been building its brand since its inaugural staging on August 5, 2022. Now in its fourth year, the event has also extended its reach outside Jamaica, with its most recent staging held in New York City on September 6 during the Labour Day weekend.

Davis described the New York staging as successful, noting that Jamaican culture and cuisine were integral to the experience. “Noteworthy was the serving of Jamaica’s national dish, ackee and salt fish, complemented by authentic Jamaican yaad vibes,” he said.

With the Jamaican staging returning after Hurricane Melissa forced a break last year, Davis said organisers are placing renewed emphasis on delivering the premium experience for which the event has become known, while appealing to Jamaicans at home and members of the Diaspora visiting the island for the Christmas season.

He said preparations for the event have been progressing strategically and according to plan, with contingencies also being put in place. For Davis, safety and security, a strong entertainment atmosphere and quality food are among the essential ingredients of a successful event. The culinary offering will therefore play a major role in the Christmas Eve staging.

The menu is expected to include seafood, stew peas, garlic butter crab legs, curried and fried lobster, along with Christmas favourites such as cake and sorrel. “Guest service excellence is above all others and beyond your expectation,” Davis said.

He described Umbrella Evening Brunch as an ideal Christmas rendezvous for families and friends, particularly members of the Diaspora spending the festive season in Jamaica.

Davis said the objective is to create an experience that leaves patrons with “incredible memories and to never want to miss another staging of Umbrella Evening Brunch”.
