STETHS open title defence with 3-0 win over Maggotty

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Defending champions St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) opened their ISSA daCosta Cup title defence with a 3-0 win over Maggotty High in their Group 1 St Elizabeth derby at the STETHS Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Shavarie Walker, Amari Lewis and Shyon George were on target for the champions, who moved top of Group 1 ahead of Munro College and Frome Technical, who also won on Wednesday.

Munro College rebounded from their Ben Francis Cup quarter-final loss on Saturday to beat Holmwood Technical 2-1 at Holmwood, while Frome edged Irwin High 1-0 at Frome.

Elsewhere, there were wins for former champions Glenmuir High, Cornwall College, Clarendon College and Dinthill Technical.

Orel Miller and Jonathan Tomlinson both scored doubles as Glenmuir High hammered Yallahs High 9-0. Rojhon Brown, Raheen Kelly, Triston Francis, Khymarii Moreland and Samari Cousins also got on the scoresheet.

Shakeem Gibson and Carlondo Morris scored as Cornwall College handed St James High their first loss of the season, while Clarendon College thrashed Porus High 7-0 and Dinthill Technical beat Morant Bay High 5-1.

Jaedan Brown Hanniford, Jaiquan Black, Javier Henry and Cean Benjamin all scored as Brown’s Town High beat William Knibb Memorial 4-1 in Martha Brae to take the lead on goal difference in Group 6.

Manning’s School upset Rusea’s High 2-1 in Lucea, while Mile Gully ended St Mary High’s perfect record in the competition, beating them 2-0.

Raheem Riley and Jahleel McKenzie both scored braces as Manchester High rolled past Edwin Allen High 7-1 in Mandeville. Adrian Smith, Jahvontae Gordon and Brandon Brown also scored.
