Kemps Hill, Knox College clash as daCosta Cup second-round action continues

CLARENDON, Jamaica — Kemps Hill High and Knox College will face off at the Wembley Centre of Excellence on Thursday in one of three matches scheduled to close out the opening round of games in the second round of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition.

Kemps Hill High, McGrath High and Christiana High, who were seeded following their participation in the Ben Francis Cup, will all make their daCosta Cup debuts for the season.

McGrath High will travel to face BB Coke High, one of three best third-place finishers to advance from the first round, while Christiana High will take on Lennon High in an away fixture.

Knox College enter Thursday’s encounter having topped Zone F in the opening round of the daCosta Cup. The team also progressed beyond the first round of the Ben Francis Cup.

Kemps Hill High, meanwhile, will be looking to build on their impressive showing last season, when they reached the daCosta Cup semi-finals.

They also enjoyed a strong start to their Ben Francis Cup campaign, winning their opening two matches by an aggregate score of 16 goals before suffering a penalty shootout defeat to Glenmuir High in the Round of 16.

In another anticipated clash, BB Coke High will look to continue their promising form after finishing third behind Munro College and Lacovia High in the first round.

However, they face a stern test against McGrath High, who advanced to the quarter-finals of the Ben Francis Cup.

Meanwhile, Lennon High will be hoping to capitalise on home advantage when they host Christiana High.

Lennon secured their place in the second round in dramatic fashion, thrashing Tacius Golding High 9-1 in their final first-round fixture to edge Denbigh High on goal difference for second place.

All three matches are scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm.
