BRUV Musiq Festival pays homage to reggae and dancehall hitmakers

BRUV Musiq Festival pays homage to reggae and dancehall hitmakers

The BRUV Musiq Festival returns for its third staging on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Portmore Harbour Beach in St Catherine, with a powerful line-up celebrating some of reggae and dancehall’s most accomplished hitmakers.

Promoter Ricardo “Mansa Musa” Burnett said the festival was moved to Portmore to accommodate a larger audience and take the event to a community where its celebration of Jamaican music and culture would be strongly appreciated.

“This year, we decided to include live artistes to pay homage to some of the people who have made significant contributions to reggae and dancehall,” Burnett said. “These are proven hitmakers who helped to define the sound of the 1990s and early 2000s, but many of them are not receiving the recognition they deserve today.”

The line-up includes Tanya Stephens, Zebra, I Wayne, Warrior King, Bascom X, Junior Cat, General B, Round Head and Nitty Kutchie.

Tanya Stephens emerged as one of dancehall’s leading female voices, while Zebra was among the most popular deejays of his era. His appearance at BRUV is expected to mark his first major event since his release from prison.

I Wayne and Warrior King represent the roots-reggae resurgence of the early 2000s, while Nitty Kutchie earned recognition as a member of Scare Dem Crew.

General B and Round Head also made their mark as members of Monster Shack Crew.

Bascom X, another respected hitmaker from the early 2000s, has recently attracted renewed attention online through his entertaining Jimmy Dread character and videos.

The live performances will be supported by three legendary sound systems—Metro Media, Stone Love and Renaissance—with music from DJ Unit, DJ Yummi and DJ Dahdy Vybz.

The festival will be hosted by Lady Timry, Kelly Upsetter and Heartical.

Burnett said BRUV has received strong support from patrons over its previous stagings, while ticket sales for this year’s event have been encouraging.

His long-term vision is to establish BRUV as a major festival brand capable of expanding beyond Jamaica into the Caribbean and the Jamaican diaspora.

BRUV—Best Retro with Ultimate Vibes—begins at noon.
