Isratech strengthens Kingston presence; expands to eastern Caribbean
AGRI solutions supplier Isratech has strengthened its presence in the island’s capital after relocating its Corporate Area operation to Barbican while establishing a new store in St Lucia, as the company seeks to build out a presence in the eastern Caribbean.
The moves form part of the entity’s strategy to create new opportunities while growing its agriculture, waterworks, energy and chemical solutions business segments.
“The relocation of our Kingston operation to Barbican is a strategic step towards bringing Isratech’s engineering expertise closer to customers in the Corporate Area. It gives us an opportunity to strengthen our presence among homeowners, businesses, contractors, developers and institutions while creating a more comfortable environment for everyone to shop,” CEO Benjamin Hodara, told the Jamaica Observer recently.
Located at 30 East Kings House Road in Barbican, the new store replaces the company’s previous outlet on Red Hills Road and complements its established operations in Mandeville and Montego Bay.
Isratech said further expansion across Jamaica will continue to be guided by customer demand, commercial feasibility, and its ability to maintain dependable service. Its growing product range is also intended to help the company serve customers beyond physical branch locations.
HODARA…The relocation of our Kingston operation to Barbican is a strategic step towards bringing Isratech’s engineering expertise closer to customers in the Corporate Area.
The new Barbican store which caters to individual and commercial customers, offers products across the company’s agriculture and irrigation portfolios including pumps, pipes and fittings, as well as renewable energy and solar water-heating solutions. It also stocks specialised chemicals for commercial cleaning and sanitation.
“The full range of what we offer will also be further guided by the needs of the Kingston market,” the CEO said.
With more than four decades of experience, Isratech provides technical assessments, engineering, installation, training and after-sales support, alongside its product offerings. Its agricultural capabilities include greenhouse infrastructure, irrigation, pumping, water storage and protected cultivation, with a focus on helping farmers use resources more efficiently to achieve consistent production.
Bullish on growing its footprint and market share locally, management said the latest round of investments is intended to improve customer experience, strengthen the company’s market position and create jobs, while contributing to economic activity.
The company, however, did not disclose the value of the investments or the number of jobs expected to be created.
Outside of Jamaica, Isratech has also advanced its regional expansion plans through the establishment of Isratech Caribbean Ltd, which it has set up in Gros Islet, St Lucia. The new store marks a major shift for the company which previously served regional customers primarily through exports but now has a more direct presence in the eastern Caribbean.
The operation is expected to bring the company closer to regional customers, improve access to technical support, and provide a better understanding of individual market needs. It will also serve as a platform to demonstrate how the company’s four divisions can work together to address challenges in agriculture, water management, energy and commercial sanitation.
“St Lucia will help us to develop and refine an approach to regional growth that combines local market knowledge with the engineering, manufacturing, and project delivery experience built in Jamaica. Further expansion will, however, depend on demand, partnerships, and the capacity to provide consistent service,” Hodara said.
“Our regional expansion is about bringing expertise, products, and dependable support closer to the people who need them. The new store in Saint Lucia gives us a stronger platform to serve the eastern Caribbean and build lasting partnerships. Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA) provided an important opportunity to understand regional priorities and connect those needs with practical solutions,” export manager Sallyann Goolcharan added.
The company’s participation in the recently concluded Caribbean Week of Agriculture, a premier regional agricultural event, was used to further strengthen its focus on building resilience across the region. Isratech said its presence at the event reinforced the importance of collaboration among private sector companies, agricultural stakeholders, and public institutions in advancing regional food security.
“Our long-term outlook is to build a stronger Caribbean business that can help customers to improve productivity and manage their resources efficiently. That ambition reflects our commitment to solutions built in the Caribbean, for the Caribbean,” Hodara said.
