Jamal and Ell Dunce Records giving thanks for “Blessin”
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall artiste Jamal has released a new single, “Blessin”, produced by Ell Dunce Records, which is gaining traction on digital streaming platforms.
The Montego Bay-based artiste, known for songs including “Ballandor”, “Time”, “1 Chop”, “Faada” and “Tru Believa”, is regarded as one of the leading figures in the trap dancehall movement.³
According to Ryan Carter of Ell Dunce Records, Jamal’s understanding of street culture and ability to craft catchy hooks give him an edge in the genre.
“Jamal knows the street and I think that is what gives him an edge over many others. He simply understands what the youths want to hear and he is very good with hooks. From him hear the beat him find the punchline and the rest is history,” Carter said.
The collaboration between Jamal and Ell Dunce Records was facilitated by fellow trap dancehall artiste Rygin King. The Manchester-based producer has also worked with artistes including Malie Don, Ai Milly, Teebone and Kant10t.
Carter said the label was investing in the promotion of “Blessin” to build its local and international reach, adding that early feedback from fans had been encouraging.
“Di song bad and the video ago be a movie. Me nah ask if the song ago be another hit because just off the initial feedback in the street and on social media me can tell seh di fans dem love it suh me just a put in the groundwork to make the project a success,” he said.
Jamal is currently recording with several producers and preparing for the music video shoot for “Blessin”. Ell Dunce Records also has upcoming releases with XKappe and Ai Milly.
