PBS adds Barbados deal 15 to regional expansion
PRODUCTIVE Business Solutions Limited (PBS) has acquired a 70 per cent stake in TSL Barbados, adding another technology business to its regional network just a month after taking full ownership of Trinidad Systems Limited.
The Barbados acquisition gives PBS control of the company while the Corbin family retains the remaining 30 per cent. The purchase price and financing arrangements were not disclosed.
TSL Barbados will continue trading under its existing brand, with directors Jake Corbin and Luke Corbin jointly leading the operation as long-standing Chief Executive Officer Peter Corbin retires. Existing account managers and service teams will continue supporting customers.
The deal brings the Barbados and Trinidad businesses under PBS’s control, creating opportunities for their teams to share expertise and pursue customers across the group’s wider network.
“TSL Barbados is a natural fit for PBS Group, with strong local expertise, established customer relationships and capabilities that complement our portfolio. This investment reflects our confidence in Barbados and strengthens what we can deliver across our seven business lines,” said PBS Group Chief Executive Officer Pedro M Paris.
“Combined with our regional expertise and global partnerships, it allows us to offer customers a broader range of integrated technology solutions and support.”
The acquisition follows PBS’s September purchase of the remaining 55 per cent interest in Trinidad Systems Limited, completing a takeover that began with an initial investment in 2024. The Trinidad company continues to operate separately under the TSL brand.
That earlier transaction also brought a management change across PBS’s regional operations. Trinidad Systems Chief Executive Officer Stuart Franco was appointed chief operating Caribbean cluster, covering Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, and other Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States member countries.
The Barbados purchase extends that recent expansion, with PBS pointing particularly to Trinidad Systems’ expertise in payment methods as a way to strengthen its services to financial institutions. The group said it already has long-standing customer relationships in that sector across the region.
TSL Barbados began operating in 2006 and provides technology solutions and services to businesses. It forms part of a wider TSL history dating back to 1979, although the announcement does not give a separate employee count, revenue figure or customer breakdown for the Barbados operation.
Luke Corbin, director of consulting and operations, said joining PBS would give the company access to resources that could help broaden its services.
“As part of PBS Group, we gain access to greater regional expertise, resources and technology capabilities, helping us expand the solutions and support we provide to our customers. Our team will also benefit from specialized training and knowledge sharing across PBS’s regional network,” he said.
Jake Corbin, director of sales and marketing, said the business would continue developing the TSL brand while working with PBS.
PBS, a member of the Musson Group listed on the Jamaica and Barbados stock exchanges, operates across 24 markets in the Caribbean, Central and South America. Its business has expanded from print, imaging and information technology into engineering, managed services, security, payments and artificial intelligence solutions.
The latest purchase adds local customer relationships and technical expertise to that network. However, PBS has not disclosed the Barbados company’s expected contribution to group earnings or put a value on the additional business it hopes the combined operations will generate.
