The Prince’s Spur romps to emphatic Jamaica Cup victory

IN a masterclass of pace and power, The Prince’s Spur delivered a dominant performance to win the sixth running of the $6-million Jamaica Cup feature race at Caymanas Park on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The Rohan Crichton-conditioned, seven-year-old, American-bred bay gelding stamped his class on the Graded Stakes contest over 9½ furlongs (1,900m), winning by an ever-widening 6¼ lengths.

Under jockey Raddesh Roman, The Prince’s Spur broke cleanly and settled beautifully in second place behind Mojito (Tajay Suckoo) around the clubhouse turn and onto the main track.

Down the backstretch, the race briefly shaped into a three-horse battle as Teflon Don (Garvin Harris) mounted a challenge alongside Mojito, with The Prince’s Spur biding his time between rivals approaching the five-furlong (1,000m) marker.

That was as close as the competition got. Roman asked The Prince’s Spur for his effort heading into the half-mile (800m) turn, and the response was immediate and decisive. The gelding seized full control and never looked back, drawing away effortlessly down the lane to cruise home under a hand canter.

Girvano (Tevin Foster) stayed on for second, with Barnaby (Phillip Parchment) completing the trifecta in third. The winning time was 1:58.3 (25.2 x 49.1 x 1:12.4 x 1:38.3).

“I knew it would be hard to beat me today. Leaving the six furlongs I knew he would take a lot of beating because he was very relaxed and I had a lot of horse, and so when I asked him to go I knew that he would respond well,” Roman said after the race.

It was the second winner on the card for Crichton and the fourth winner Roman. Crichton and Roman had earlier teamed up to win the sixth race with Call Her Norray.

Roman’s other winners on the card were Confidence Is High in the fourth race, to give trainer Steven Todd a double on the card, and Walk The Plank for trainer Anthony Nunes in the 10th and final event. Todd had saddled Rejected Raja (Tevin Foster) in the opening race.

Foster later rode two more winners for a hat-trick also on the 10-race card.

Foster’s winners were highlighted by Dothraki (USA), who won the $2.5-million Port Royal Sprint over six furlongs (1,200m).

Dothraki just held on by a neck to beat the fast-finishing Nautical Star on the wire.
Of A Revolution (Tyrese Anderson) finished in third place as the final time was recorded at 1:11.2 (23.0 x 46.3 x 58.3).

Foster also won aboard Legal Fight for Patrick Lynch in the second race, for his three winners.

Supernatural Power, trained by Adrian Prince and ridden by Demar Williams, won the $1.5-million St Elizabeth Distaff over one mile. She won the race by seven lengths ahead of Main Mistress (Tajay Suckoo) and Dream Catcher (Tevin Foster) in a time of 1:38.3.

Prince hard earlier saddled Dutchess (Tajay Suckoo) in the third race for a double as well.

Racing continues on Saturday.
