The Art of Dining: Posh Table Brings a Fresh Taste of Asia to Montego Bay

Posh Table restaurant is celebrating its first anniversary. Located at Whitter Village, Ironshore, Montego Bay, the stylish eatery is redefining what guests can expect from Indian cuisine. Guided by the tagline “The Art of Dining,” the restaurant combines authentic Indian flavours, Pan-Asian influences, impressive cocktails, and an inviting atmosphere to create a dining experience unlike any other in the city.

At the centre of the concept is co-owner Vinod Balandram, whose lifelong passion for food and cocktails inspired the venture. A talented cook himself, Balandram’s appreciation of flavours and hospitality helped shape a restaurant that balances authenticity with innovation.

Opened on October 1, 2025, Posh Table faced an early setback when Hurricane Melissa which devastated western Jamaica on October 28 and forced its temporary closure. Undeterred, the team reopened on December 1, reaffirming its commitment to bringing something unique to Montego Bay’s culinary landscape.

“We wanted to create something authentic but also exciting and contemporary. The goal wasn’t simply to open another typical Indian restaurant but to have a fusion and a mix to introduce guests to the diversity of Asian cuisine through an Indian lens,” explained co-owner Amrita Balandram.

While Indian cuisine forms the heart of the menu, Posh Table is far from your typical Indian restaurant. The offerings are rooted in authentic North Indian cooking, complemented by touches of South Indian cuisine, while also embracing a wider Pan-Asian concept that introduces diners to flavours from across the continent.

“We offer two distinct types of cuisine, authentic Indian and Pan-Asian. To break down the Pan-Asian, first comes the Indo-Chinese. It has a fusion of Indian and Chinese spices used in Indian street food and then cuisines from across Asia,” co-owner Vinod Balandram.

The Indo-Chinese cuisine features popular street food dishes such as Hakka noodles, chilli chicken, and Manchurian chicken which deliver bold flavours rarely found elsewhere in Montego Bay, offering guests a fresh take on both Indian and Chinese cuisine. Other offerings include southern Indian cuisine such as Black Pepper Chicken made with curry leaves and freshly ground black pepper and northern Indian cuisine featuring the heavy use of the Tandoor. The spice profile for the eatery relies heavily on coriander, cumin and mustard seeds as well as curry leaves, old red chilli and Chinese seasonings.

The Pan-Asian menu extends beyond India, featuring dishes inspired by Korea, Japan, Thailand, and China. Popular options include a Korean Bowl with three types of protein, a hearty steamed bowl with pork, chicken, and shrimp, fresh sushi selections, and flavourful Thai dishes using red and green curry. The result is a menu that encourages diners to explore a variety of Asian culinary traditions in one setting.

“We’re celebrating our first year of opening and our customers are demanding more of the sushi and dumpling dishes. This will see us doing a new menu with items to include more options including a Caribbean Roll and Crystal Dumplings. We tested some of the new items a few weeks ago and the response was extremely positive,” Vinod added.

Complementing the cuisine is a carefully curated cocktail menu that reflects the restaurant’s attention to detail and creativity. Whether paired with spicy Indo-Chinese specialties or classic Indian dishes, the cocktails elevate the overall dining experience.

Beyond the food, Posh Table prides itself on creating a welcoming environment. The owners encourage guests to ask questions about unfamiliar dishes and are eager to share the stories and traditions inspiring the menu. The restaurant also offers space for private events, making it an appealing venue for celebrations, corporate gatherings, and special occasions.

In a city with a developing vibrant food culture, Posh Table stands out by offering something refreshingly different: Authentic Indian cuisine, adventurous Pan-Asian flavours, handcrafted cocktails, and genuine hospitality, all delivered through its commitment to The Art of Dining.
