Cholita encourages listeners to embrace attraction on new single ‘Higher’
Fresh from winning the 2026 Caribbean Music Award for Best New Artiste (Reggae), singer Cholita has dropped her latest single titled Higher, which was released on Friday.
Higher sees the Kingston-based singer collaborating with Mixpak Records boss Dre Skull, following their collaboration on her debut EP Broken Promises.
“Higher was inspired by that feeling of having an undeniable connection with someone, where the chemistry is so strong that being around them just takes you to another place. It’s about the attraction, the energy, and the way two people can bring out a different side of each other. I wanted to capture that feeling in a way that was fun, sensual, and effortless,” Cholita explained.
“I want listeners to feel free to embrace attraction, chemistry, and the moments that make you feel good. Sometimes, you meet someone whose energy just clicks with yours, and you don’t have to overthink it. You can simply enjoy the feeling and let yourself be in the moment,” she added.
Cholita spoke about working with Dre Skull.
“It’s always a pleasure, he really helps to make the process of making music feel a bit more effortless, and I always end up learning something new.”
Cholita’s debut EP Broken Promises, released in June, features collaborations with Skillibeng (Without You) and Popcaan (Never Come Down). Other tracks include Next Time, Deja vu, Too Damn Hard and Second Chances.
