Brothers, aged 5 and 10, die in Portmore house fire

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Two young brothers, aged five and 10, died in a house fire in Portmore, St Catherine on Monday night, police have confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as 10-year-old Dion Bell and his five-year-old brother, Joshua Bell.

According to police reports, about 7:10 pm, officers at the Caymanas Police Station were alerted to a fire at a house in the Portmore Villa community in St Catherine.

The Jamaica Fire Brigade was summoned to the scene and extinguished the blaze. However, the bodies of the two boys were subsequently discovered among the rubble.

Their mother was also injured badly in the fire, according to Member of Parliament Alando Terrelonge, who visited the scene

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
