14 set to clash in $1.25-m Racehorse Aftercare Trophy

A full field of 14 runners will contest the third running of the $1.25-million Racehorse Aftercare Trophy on tomorrow’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.

The Overnight Allowance event for three-year-olds and upward will be run over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a closer look at each runner:

1. COMMANDER Z (USA): (5 ch h by Khozan – Wontoo) – Loves the straight course, but the number one draw in this big field is a major concern. Will need luck from the gate.

2. MONEY MARKET: (6 b h by Successful Native – Soca Dancer) – Was a disappointing favourite last time, finishing down the track over this distance on October 10. He is much better than this level and is expected to run a much better race here.

3. GET A PEPSI: (7 ch h by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getupstandup) – Should not have a say in the finish.

4. FEELING FREE : (4 ch c by Northern Giant – Fantastic Feeling) – A winner last time out over this distance, but repeating that will be a very difficult task in this company.

5. UNSPUN (USA): (4 dk b/br c by Spun To Run – U Needa Ride) – Has no form to recommend him for a winning run.

6. FRED THE MASTER (USA): (4 b c by Mitole – But For Money) – A model of consistency — never finished worse than third in nine career starts. Expected to run well again.

7. CONFIDENCE IS HIGH (USA): (4 b c by Improbable – Yahilwa) – Did well to reach this level. This will be a good test of where he really stands.

8. SHE’S THAT GIRL: (5 ch m by Sensational Slam – Palace Gold) – Was caught close home by Wall Street Trader over 5 1/2 furlongs (1,100m) on October 18. With the distance reduced and her raw early speed, She’s That Girl is going to take a lot of catching here.

9. SISTREN TREASURE (USA): (6 b m by Brethren – Katira) – Returns from a 223-day break. She is going to need this run to get fit.

10. CHOCOMO (USA): (5 b h by Backtalk – Chocolate Chippi) – Likely to be left behind in this one.

11. KING’S CROWN: (5 ch h by Berlino Di Tiger – Dancing Queen) – Returns to competitive racing from a 350-day break. No chance of winning on the comeback.

12. TEFLON DON: (5 b h by Casual Trick – The Lady Scored) – Should run well without actually winning.

13. MAGNIFICENT FORCE (USA): (5 dk b/br m by Cloud Computing – Cocktail Cruise) – Cannot get a vote of confidence on current form.

14. HI SLEW SQUARED (CAN): (4 b f by Gormley – Heidi’s Holiday) – Can safely be bypassed.
