Vybz Kartel earns first certification in Canada with ‘Fever’ hitting double platinum
Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel earned his very first certification in Canada, thanks to his 2016 hit single Fever.
Fever was certified double platinum in Canada, for sales and streaming equivalent exceeding 160,000 units.
The certification was issued on November 5 by Music Canada.
In an exclusive statement sent to Observer Online, Zojak World Wide, the distributor of Fever, expressed pleasure at the single’s latest certification.
“Seeing Vybz Kartel’s Fever reach this incredible milestone in Canada is a proud moment for all of us at Zojak World Wide. We want to congratulate Kartel, TJ Records and everyone who has contributed to this record’s success. It’s a testament to the global impact of dancehall music and what can be achieved through great music, strong partnerships and a shared vision. We’re truly grateful to be part of this journey and to have played a role in bringing this music to audiences around the world,” the joint statement from founders and owners Zoe Espita and Aaron Mahlfeldt read.
Fever was previously certified gold in the United States for sales and streaming exceeding 500,000 units. In July, it received a similar certification in the United Kingdom for sales and streaming equivalent of 400,000 units.
The lead single from Vybz Kartel’s King of the Dancehall album, Fever, produced by Linton “TJ’ White (TJ Records) and Adidjaheim Records, rose to #36 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart in 2017. It stalled at #23 on Rap Airplay.
