What is the genesis of your store’s name?
While developing my business plan, and in need of a brand, Flirt, came to mind. It’s a name that perfectly embodies the mystique of a woman.
How long have you been in the retail industry?
As a teenager growing up in Colombia, I’d spend my summer vacation assisting my mom in her shoe store business. I believe that is where my love for the industry was born and what led me to eventually opening Flirt in May 2009.
What keeps you interested in the business of fashion?
I absolutely love fashion! I love keeping up-to-date with everything that is fashion-related. It’s great to have a space, such as Flirt, where other lovers or enthusiasts of fashion can visit, to get their fashion fix.
How would you describe your personal style?
I would say my style is classic with a neutral palette, and though I always feel the need to be stylish, my look must also incorporate comfort. I can frequently be seen in dark-coloured jeans – distressed or otherwise – in hues such as navy or black; tops in ivory, off-white, and of course, tons of black; and because of my height, my heel of choice is the wedge.
What lines do you carry?
We carry an extensive selection of lingerie, swimsuits, casual and evening wear, jewellery and accessories.
How would you describe the Flirt woman?
She is informed and fashionable, and therefore very interested in trends, but also has an appreciation for sticking within budget. She is also a superb customer; she believes in our brand and our commitment to quality. We have developed a great relationship with her and as a result, she feels comfortable enough to approach us about sourcing items and making requests. And that is something we definitely encourage here at Flirt. We listen to her and, when ordering, always have her needs in mind.
What can customers expect from Flirt Boutique on Thursday, September 19?
As per usual, we’ll be offering great discounts and prizes. We’ll also take this opportunity to show our appreciation for our customers, as we have partnered with retail bankers, restaurants, beauty salons and the Jamaica Observer to indulge them in fabulous in-store treats and Flirt giveaways.

What do you expect to be the major trends or must-haves for the Jamaica Observer Takes Style Out?
High-waisted shorts and pants, boyfriend and distressed jeans; cut-out rompers;and dresses. In terms of colours: neon, coral, red, black and white, and pastels. Checks are also very in; and animal prints continue into this season as well. All of which, I’m happy to say, are currently available at Flirt.
