Resort Lifestyle by Bill Edwards

Caribbean Hall of Fame inductee and local fashion designer Bill Edwards is set to launch his new Resort Lifestyle collection. Though he’s tight-lipped on the grand reveal, AW Fashion managed to twist his arm a tad.

AW Fashion (AWF): Tell us about your Resort Lifestyle collection.

Bill Edwards (BE): Resort Lifestyle is a menswear line — women to be added later — consisting of shirts in various designs, flat-front pants, drawstring pants, shorts and blazers. I’ve paid a lot of attention to detail, as I want to capture the warmth of the Caribbean in the fabrics used, and that makes the fabric design a very special feature of the collection.

AWF: Walk us through the design process.

BE: The designing process involved working with my fabric designer in Poland to revamp a collection of fabrics made from Italian linen by incorporating the warmth and spirit of the Caribbean and our beautiful beaches.

AWF: Describe the man or woman you are designing for.

BE: The man, or woman, who wears Resort Lifestyle is one who exudes confidence and pride.

AWF: What should we expect from the Resort Lifestyle Collection?

BE: Great things are in store for the Bill Edwards brand. We have an existing line of Bill Edwards Casuals, Basix, Womenswear and now we’re ready for Resort Wear. I am constantly reinventing, so we will be adding another collection to improve on the Bill Edwards lifestyle.

AWF: What inspired the designs?

BE: A recent visit to our world-famous Round Hill Hotel was the sole inspiration for Resort Lifestyle. The beautiful colours and prints in the collection reflect the scenery with all the palm trees and vibrant botanicals.

AWF: Where can the shirts be purchased?

BE: Pieces from the collection are available at Collectibles and Lee’s Fifth Avenue in Tropical Mall in Kingston and the new Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall.
