Dress for Success to host Power Walk
On May 16, Dress for Success Jamaica, an affiliate of the international non-profit organization that promotes economic independence for disadvantaged women, will stage its annual Power Walk in 40 international cities, including Kingston, at Emancipation Park.
The Power Walk serves as one of the organization’s many fundraising efforts to continue providing economic empowerment for women in need and this year’s theme, “Make a step, make it matter”, calls on Jamaicans to make a step towards supporting the economic advancement of our women in need.
Uniquely, the Dress for Success Jamaica Power Walk promises fun and camaraderie with top prizes including Best Dressed Corporate Team and Best Dressed Walker. Patrons are therefore encouraged to dress creatively for a chance to win one of the many prizes.
“Our Power Walk is one of our more exciting fundraising activities which sees us encouraging powerful men and women to come on out for a powerful cause – that of helping us to continue to assist women in need of career guidance and empowerment as well as basic resources such as suits for work,” said founder Charmaine Lewis.
“Adding a fun component is also another way of encouraging entire families and friends to come on out and have a grand time.”
By participating in the Power Walk, walkers will help support programmes that empower disadvantaged women and their families to achieve financial independence and self-defined success.
